When we give of ourselves- whether it be money, things, or time, we are telling someone that we care, and that feels really good. In DBT, there’s a skill for distraction that consists of contributing, which offers us the opportunity to do something for someone else when we are having a hard time, a strong feeling, or rough day. The act of doing for someone else will help to lift us up. And for me- that is often in the firm of crafts, and I’m not ashamed to share it!
